New blog.

I love tumblr. I really do. The only complaint is that I can’t organize my posts.  It’s like a relationship that started off great, but ends with, “It’s not you, it’s me.  It just won’t work out.”

So good-bye for now tumblr.  You can always find me at www.jennyhembree.wordpress.com

Suffering well.

Romans 8:18

“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us.”

Whatever the suffering might be, no matter how painful or small, the glory that will be revealed in Christ will be immeasurably better.  Right now, I’m suffering.  It might seem trite compared to the tragedies in Myanmar or China, but still I am suffering.  The beautiful thing about that is found in Romans.  “If indeed we suffer with Him in order that we may also be glorified with Him.”

My response is not out of my own doing or by white-knuckling the situation.  But because Jesus became a sin offering, I can walk according to the Spirit and not of the flesh.  The flesh is so weak.  The flesh white-knuckles.  The flesh is selfish.  The flesh is the antonym of the Spirit.

I want to say that I will suffer like Job.  That it might get worse, but I will still praise the One who calls all things to work together for good.  I know the deeds of the flesh will make a cameo once in a while, but I pray that I put those to death.  That I will walk by the Spirit and suffer well.  That in all times, I can see a loving God who uses all situations, no matter how horrific, pointing to the cross and His glory.

Our present day sufferings have nothing on the future glory to be revealed.

Making the Cut

So a friend of mine challenged me to start, “Making the Cut” by Jillian Michaels with her. (She’s the trainer from the Biggest Loser).  It’s a workout that’s divided into circuits so it keeps your heart rate up and is a total body workout.  I’m on day 5…and let me tell you I can already see and feel a difference.

Is anyone else up to the challenge?? :)
